MUG Site Specific Experience
This summer I was invited by Elad Shechter and c.a.t.a.m.o.n dance group in Jerusalem to create a new short piece for Jaffa to Agripas Dance Festival.
I was working with Or Elgarisi on a new duo, and for the first time in a site specific context. I feel that the process of searching for something that I feel represents myself and at the same time trying to keep and create the connection to the Market and its ambiance was a blessed challenge. My goal was finding the connection between an uplifting sound track and strong physical movement that catches your eye sight. Blending in to the market on one hand and alienating on the other.
I had many challenges including intense travelings during the summer for different dance residences and performances abroad. Yet, Or and I had a lot of fun in the studio, working together, experimenting and, laughing a lot.
The performance took place in Machne Yehuda Market in Jerusalem, the crowd was very unique and changed a lot between the 3 performance we have had that evening.
Finally, I couldn't be happier with the result, together with extremely talented costume designer, Idan Lederman, who created a double costume for us!
here is my favourite photo(and moment) from the piece.
